Report: Manchester City tracking Fluminense teen Gerson
Manchester City have stepped up their interest in Fluminense youngster Gerson, according to a report on clubcall.com.
City are believed to have been monitoring the 16 year-old, who is yet to make his first-team debut, for some time.
Gerson, a left-footed attacking midfielder, was recently named in a preliminary Brazil squad for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
He was, however, cut from the final 21 by head coach Alexandre Gallo. Reports later suggested that Gerson himself had requested to be withdrawn for personal reasons. Flu team-mates Marcos and Kenedy were included.
Fluminense co-own Gerson's economic rights with a third party football agency, which could potentially complicate any move from City.
Brazil kick-off their U-17 World Cup challenge - in the United Arab Emirates - today against Slovakia, at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium.
