Maxwell pleased with Seleção opportunity
Maxwell has told of the importance of handing the opportunity to a number of the squad in Brazil’s 2-0 victory over Zambia in Beijing on Tuesday.
The Paris Saint-Germain defender was one of seven changes made by coach Luiz Felipe Scolari for the victory at the Bird’s Nest Stadium and the 32-year-old was grateful for the chance to impress, reports Goal.com.
"This was our opportunity to show Felipao that he can count on us, which is really important,” Maxwell said.
Diego Cavalieri, Dede, Lucas Leiva, Lucas Moura, Ramires and Alexandre Pato all came into the starting line-up in a much changed side.
“This match was fundamental to us,” Maxwell continued.
“Now we have to think about the group, regardless of whatever we might want for ourselves individually. The assessment is for the coach to make at a later date.”
