Maicon aims for World Cup squad
Roma defender Maicon has admitted that his goal this season is to make the Seleção World Cup squad for next summer.
The right back is currently injured and has stayed in the Rome rather than travel out for international duty with his national team.
But the Seleção international has conceded that he wants to be named in Luiz Felipe Scolari’s squad for the tournament, reports Football Italia.
“I am almost 100 per cent fit,” he told Lancenet. “I have resumed some physical work after being out for almost two weeks.
“I want to get ready for the game against Napoli that awaits us after the international break, however, I want to be in the group of players who take part in the World Cup.”
