Roma defender Maicon has been forced out of Brazil’s friendlies with South Korea and Zambia later this month.
The 32 year-old was injured in the Giallorossi’s 2-0 win at Sampdoria. He missed their 5-0 victory against Bologna, but was expected to be fit for the Seleção.
Brazil head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has neglected to call up a replacement, with David Luiz able to cover Daniel Alves at right full-back, if necessary.
Maicon had only recently fought his way back into Scolari’s plans, having been over-looked for the Confederations Cup.
The former Internazionale full-back has made an impressive start at new club Roma, following a frustrating 12 months with Manchester City.
