Representative Marco Rivellino has admitted that Internazionale held talks with Roma over midfielder Marquinho.

The Brazilian, who was linked with Grêmio in January, was believed to be a target for new Inter coach Walter Mazzarri over the summer.

“There was nothing concrete with Inter, but we did talk,” Rivellino told Tutto Internazionale, as reported by Football Italia. “You’ll have to ask Inter director Marco Branca.”

“He did try to sign Marquinho, but not directly through me. He used other people who work with Inter for Brazilian players.

“Was he close to a move in the last few days? That’s the impression I got from reading the newspapers,” he concluded.

Marquinho has been on the fringes at Roma this season. The 27 year-old’s made just three appearances for Rudi Garcia’s side, who top Serie A.
