Over 4.5 million ticket requests have been made for next summers World Cup in Brazil, according to FIFA.com.
The majority of those have come from residents of the host nation - 77 per cent - with Argentina (223,686) and USA (175,122) the next most prominent.
Fans from over 200 countries have submitted applications, continues FIFA.com.
“This impressive total so far underlines the extraordinary level of interest in this 20th FIFA World Cup being played next year in the country of the five-time world champions,” stated Thierry Weil, FIFA’s Marketing director.
The opening match - which will involve hosts Brazil - plus the final and other Seleção fixtures are the most in demand.
Overall, their will 64 games played between June 12 and July 13 next summer.
