Galatasaray star Felipe Melo has claimed Juventus have one of the best midfields in the world ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League encounter in Turin but he is hopeful of causing an upset against his former team.

The Seleção midfielder played for Juventus between 2009 and 2013 before finally leaving the Serie A champions for Galatasaray after spending two seasons on loan at the Istanbul giants.

And now, the former Fiorentina man admits the midfield that coach Antonio Conte has at his disposal is one of the best in the world, reports Goal.com.

Melo is in awe of the midfield which includes Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal, Claudio Marchisio and Paul Pogba.

“The Juventus midfield is one of the strongest around alongside Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain’s,” Melo said at a press conference.

“When I was at Juve I never held back, and everyone knows that I always wore my heart on my sleeve in every game.

“I’m happy for my ex-team-mates because they’ve won a lot in these last two years, but saying that I hope to put in a good performance and bring home three points.

“Of course I’m still fond of Juventus because I spent two years here in which we also suffered a bit, and when you go through an experience like that you become emotionally attached. Now, though, I just want to do whatever’s required to help Galatasaray.”

Galatasaray were beaten 6-1 by Real Madrid on matchday one, while Juventus were held to a 1-1 draw by Copenhagen.
