Jonathan eyes Seleção chance
Internazionale defender Jonathan is hoping his excellent club form will be rewarded with an international call up.
The 27 year-old has looked renewed under new Inter coach Walter Mazzarri.
“Now I have the continuity I was looking for. With Mazzarri I have regained my confidence, I have started the season well and hopefully, I can continue like this,” said Jonathan, as reported by sempreinter.com.
The full-back has started five games for the Nerazzurri this season and netted the winner in last week’s 2-1 victory against Fiorentina.
Jonathan initially struggled after joining Inter from Santos in 2011 and was loaned to Parma after just six months in Milan. Now he has finally settled, the Conselheiro Lafaiete-native is eyeing the Seleção, ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
”I know that [Luiz] Felipe Scolari watches the Brazilian players in Europe. It will not be easy, seeing as I have two great players like Maicon and Dani Alves competing for the same position,” Jonathan continued. “However, I work hard and if I one day get the chance, I am ready for the responsibility.”
