Valencia stopper Alves out for a month
Valencia goalkeeper Diego Alves is set for a month on the sidelines.
The 28 year-old suffered a tear to an upper leg muscle in the closing moments of Los Che’s 1-0 victory against Rayo Vallecano.
The stopper is definitely out for Thursday’s Europa League tie at Russian side Kuban - a game Vicente Guaita would probably have started anyway - while he will also miss the weekend trip to Athletic Bilbao.
Alves should be back to face former club Almería, who he left in 2007 to join Valencia, on October 30.
The seven-time Brazil international has started every La Liga game for Miroslav Đukić’s side this season, keeping three clean sheets - against Málaga, Granada CF and Rayo.
