Lucas hails ‘world class’ Suárez
Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva believes the contributions of team-mate Luis Suárez will be key to the Reds season.
The Uruguayan forward netted twice in a 3-1 win at Sunderland on Sunday. It was his first Premier League appearance since April, after sitting out a ten match ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanović.
Lucas was quick to praise Suárez' influence and reaffirm the 26 year-old’s commitment to Liverpool, following a summer of speculation that he wanted to depart the Anfield club.
"He is showing again just how good he is. He is a world-class player and it is so important to have players like that if you want to fight for good things this season,” Lucas told Liverpool’s official website, as reported by skysports.com.
“Hopefully he will have another fantastic season for us like he did last year.
"Luis showed with his performance that he is really committed to the team and to the club. He just wants to help us, and we will try to help him too."
Lucas has started every game for Liverpool this season, with his excellent form earning the 26 year-old a recall to the Brazilian national team for next month’s friendlies against South Korea and Zambia.
