Maradona: Brazil World Cup favourites
Former Argentina coach Diego Maradona admits hosts Brazil are his favourites to win next summer’s World Cup.
“My favourites to win the World Cup are Brazil,” said the 52 year-old, as reported by fifa.com.
“They showed at the Confederations Cup that when the Brazilian players are focused, they’re unbeaten.”
Maradona, who lifted the World Cup as a player with Argentina in 1986, also reserved praise for Barcelona forward Neymar.
“Neymar is outstanding. He does what he wants on the pitch,” he continued.
In total, Maradona played at four World Cups - 1982, 1986, 1990 and 1994 - whilst he also managed Argentina in 2010, when they were beaten 4-0 by Germany at the quarter-final stage.
The Boca Juniors and Napoli legend is currently out of work after leaving UAE Arabian Gulf League side Al Wasl in July of last year.
