Lucas Leiva's Liverpool ease past Sunderland on Suarez return
Lucas Leiva impressed as Liverpool ran out comfortable 3-1 winners over Sunderland in the Premier League.
The Seleção international helped anchor the Reds’ midfield and allowed the returning Luis Suarez to grab the headlines as Liverpool got back to winning ways.
Lucas played the full 90 minutes at the Stadium of Light and saw his side take an early lead as Daniel Sturridge controversially made it 1-0.
Then Suarez took centre stage as he smashed home a Sturridge cross to double Brendan Rodgers’ side’s advantage.
Lucas held firm in midfield and his defensive work was exceptional as Liverpool went in at half time two goals to the good.
Sunderland came out for the second half fighting and pulled a goal back through Emanuele Giaccherini.
However, Suarez had the last laugh as he made it 3-1 late on in his first league appearance for five months.
