Martino: Neymar has adapted quickly
Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino has praised Neymar for the way he has adapted to life with the Catalan giants.
The 21 year-old joined Barça from Santos for £48.6 million in July.
Across the eight appearances he has made so far, Neymar’s contributed four assists, but just one goal - against Atlético de Madrid in the Supercopa de España - a stat some have used to suggest he is not quite contributing as expected.
Martino, however, refutes this argument, insisting the Brazilian is doing well.
"The press judge how he has adapted by asking whether he has scored goals or not, but he does a fantastic job in creating chances and recovering the ball, the 50 year-old said in an interview with AS, as reported by goal.com. “He has adapted very quickly and I'm very happy with what he has done so far.
"Don't forget that he had a long summer with the Confederations Cup, his hectic transfer to the club and the long trips he has had to make which have prevented him from training properly. We are very satisfied with everything he has offered us."
Neymar will look to get break his La Liga duck when Barcelona host Real Sociedad on Tuesday.
