Rummenigge: Breno will join São Paulo
Brazilian defender Breno will rejoin São Paulo according to Bayern Munich Chairman Karl-Heinze Rummenigge.
The 23 year-old played for the Tricolor between 2003 and 2007, before signing with Bayern in a €12 million deal.
Breno was jailed for arson in 2012, but has been granted daily parole and works as part of Bayern Munich’s youth set-up.
“He feels fine. The job gives him great pleasure,” said Rummenigge, as reported by ESPN FC.
The 57 year-old also admitted that Breno has been working to regain fitness ahead of his move back to Brazil.
“We want to bring him up to a decent level as soon as possible even though he will not play for us again. As soon as he is released from prison, he will join FC São Paulo. He has a contract there.”
German newspaper Die Welt claims Breno could be released early in the New Year, as the former Brazil under-23 international looks to get his career back on track. He won the 2007 Brasileirão during his first spell at São Paulo.
