Thiago Silva out for ‘some time’
It is unclear how long Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva will be unavailable for after he picked up a muscle tear in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Monaco.
The 29 year-old had to be replaced after just 16 minutes by Zoumana Camara.
The club have announced that Silva has a tear in his left thigh, but as yet are unsure how long he will be out.
"The MRI test carried out on Thiago Silva confirmed a muscle tear in the left thigh," read a statement on the club website. "The length of his absence will be revealed at a later time depending on the evolution of the injury."
Coach Laurent Blanc was pessimistic with his estimations as to the timescale of Silva’s recover.
"I think we've lost him for some time," said 47 year-old said.
Silva, who is also Brazil’s national team captain, joined PS-G from Milan last summer for €42 million. He was appointed skipper by former coach Carlo Ancelotti.
