Injury setback rules Forlán out of Portuguesa clash
Internacional trainer Dunga has confirmed that Diego Forlán will not return to fitness in time for Sunday’s clash at home to Portuguesa.
"Diego hasn't completely recovered and he needs a few more days of rest before he is available," the former Seleção coach was quoted as saying on Saturday.
Forlán suffered the ankle injury in Uruguay’s 2-1 victory against Peru in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier earlier this month.
It is unclear whether the 34 year-old will be ready for next weekend’s match against league leaders Cruzeiro, at the Estádio do Vale.
More positive news for Dunga is the return of Andrés D’Alessandro. The veteran play-maker, who has contributed eight goals and six assists this season, has recovered from a rib injury. He last featured in the 1-0 victory against Criciúma, seven days ago.
