Udinese lead Manchester United in Gomes chase
Udinese are hopeful of beating Manchester United to the signature of Brazilian forward Bruno Gomes.
The 18 year-old hit-man is owned by Desportivo Brasil and has been strongly linked to United, who have a link up with the Porto Feliz-based club.
Gomes was one of three Desportivo players - also Lucas Evangelista and Aguilar - who had a trial with the Premier League champions last year.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Manchester United were leading the chase for Gomes, but negotiations failed to be concluded and an agreement wasn’t reached.
Udinese have now stepped forward, continues Di Marzio, with Gomes believed to be closer to the Zebrette.
Udinese have a reputation as one of Europe’s best clubs at nurturing young talent and have shopped extensively in South America. Their current squad boasts six Brazilians - Neuton, Allan, Naldo, Danilo, Jadson, Douglas Silva and Maicosuel.
Gomes could be seen as an heir to Colombian forward Luis Muriel, who has been linked with a number of European giants and may leave in a big money move next summer.
