Marquinhos: Playing against Falcao will improve me
Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos believes facing strikers like Radamel Falcao make him better as a player.
The highly rated Brazilian is preparing to face the striker when his side comes up against Monaco on Sunday and he believes he will improve as a player against the world’s best strikers, reports Goal.com.
The 19-year-old made a €31.4 million move to Paris from Roma this summer after just one year in European football.
The Ligue 1 champions face big-spending Monaco on Sunday and the Brazilian is looking forward to defending against Falcao.
"When I play against Falcao on Sunday, I will face an oppenent who will make me grow as a player," he told Le10Sport.
Marquinhos scored in PSG's 4-1 win over Olympiakos in their Champions League opener on Tuesday, and he says the experience makes him want to increase his work ethic further.
"It was a difficult game early on, as we expected, but we remained strong and patient," he continued.
"In the end we reached our primary goal, which was to win the game. Playing in a game like that just makes me want to continue working hard on my game."
