Brazilians star as Champions League returns
Alex Teixeira and Marquinhos were the standout Brazilians as the Champions League returned on Tuesday night.
Teixeira netted a brace, as Shakhtar Donetsk beat Real Sociedad 2-0 at Anoeta.
Marquinhos’ night didn’t start too positively, as he was easily beaten by Vladimír Weiss, who was able to temporarily pull Olympiakos level against Paris Saint-Germain. The young defender, however, recovered and rounded off a convincing 4-1 victory for PS-G on what was his Champions League debut.
Elsewhere, Luisão scored for Benfica in their 2-0 win over Anderlecht, while Shakhtar fielded the most Brazilians - seven (Luiz Adriano, Teixeira, Douglas Costa, Fernando, Taison, Bernard and Fred) on the night.
