Casemiro in, Marcelo out for Real Madrid
Casemiro has been named in a 20-man Real Madrid squad for Los Blancos Champions League opener at Galatasaray.
The midfielder will compete with Sami Khedira, Asier Illarramendi and Luka Modrić for a starting berth at the Türk Telekom Arena on Tuesday.
The 21 year-old is yet to start a game this season, but has featured as a substitute in victories against Athletic Bilbao, Granada and Real Betis.
Fellow Brazilian Marcelo remains unavailable. The 25 year-old suffered a thigh strain representing Brazil in their 6-0 friendly victory against Australia last weekend. He will also miss Sunday’s home fixture with Getafe, but could return when Real Madrid visit Elche, in nine days time.
Los Merengues, who dropped points for the first time this season after being held to a 2-2 draw by Villarreal on Saturday, were drawn in Group B. As well as Galatasaray, they face Italian champions Juventus and Danish outfit København.
