Guerrero: Corinthians can still be champions
Corinthians striker José Paolo Guerrero insists Timo do Povo can still win the Brasileirão.
Thursday’s 1-0 defeat at Botofogo leaves the São Paulo-based club 13 points adrift of leaders Cruzeiro.
"We are still in with a fighting chance," stated Guerrero. "Nobody doubts that Corinthians are still one of the best teams in Brazil. I am confident that the team will recover.”
"The great thing about Brazilian football is that anything can happen. We are going to fight until the last moment and believe we can still be champions."
Corinthians have won just one of their last five matches - 4-0 against Flamengo.
Scoring goals has been a big problem for Tite’s side. They have netted just 19 in 20 matches, with Guerrero contributing four of them.
Corinthians’ next game is at home to Goiás on Sunday.
