Pelé: Brazil need more than Neymar
Seleção legend Pelé has insisted that Brazil shouldn’t solely depend on Neymar.
The 21 year-old has been in sparkling form for the national team. At this summer’s Confederations Cup, he was instrumental as Brazil were victorious and won the Golden Ball - an award for the best player.
Neymar continued to shine In Brazil’s friendly victories over Australia and Portugal, this week. He netted in both games and now has 26 goals in 42 appearances at international level.
The Barcelona forward is undoubtedly key to Brazil’s chances of lifting the World Cup on home soil next summer, but Pelé believes it would be dangerous to rely too much on the Mogi das Cruzes native.
"Neymar is an extraordinary player and he is of fundamental importance to the team," Pelé told Estado de Sao Paulo.
"However, we can't depend too much on him."
Both Neymar and Pelé made their name at Santos, with the latter scoring an incredible 619 goals in 638 appearances for Santástico.
