Chelsea’s Ramires is grateful for Brazil recall
Chelsea midfielder Ramires has admitted he is delighted to be back playing for the Seleção.
After missing out on the Confederations Cup, the 26 year-old was recalled by head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari for this week’s friendly victories over Australia and Portugal.
Ramires started both games and found the net against the Socceroos, in a 6-0 win.
“I am very happy. Returning to the Brazilian national team has been wonderful. To play in these two important matches as a starter and to help the team win, honestly, was above the expectations I had,” said the former Benfica player.
“I have to thank Scolari and the entire coaching staff for the opportunity. They worked with seriousness. I return to London even more motivated to defend Chelsea and look forward to the challenges ahead.”
Ramires also praised the spirit of the group and was delighted with the warmth shown to him by his team-mates.
“Every one in the group welcomed me,” he added. “I have received much support from my colleagues and it helped me to have the peace of mind needed to do better.”
