Ney Franco to replace Caio Júnior as Vitória coach
Former São Paulo and Brazil U20 manager Ney Franco, will be announced as the new coach of Vitória later on today.
The Brazilian manager will take over the Salvador based team, who are currently performing above expectations in the Brasileiro , lying 5th in the league as the season approaches the half-way stage.
Despite their impressive league position, their manager Caio Júnior was sacked after this weekend’s defeat to Criciúma which made it four defeats in the last five games.
The club moved quickly to appoint Ney Franco, who has had considerable success in Brazilian football over the last few years.
He was manager of the impressive Brazil Under-20 side which won both the U20 World Cup, and the South American Youth Championship in 2011.
He then went on to manage São Paulo where he lead the team to glory in the 2012 Copa Sudamericana.
Ney Franco should be in place by the time Vitória play Flamengo at the Maracanã tomorrow night.
