Bayern's Thiago Alcantara ruled out for seven weeks
Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has been sidelined for up to seven weeks after picking up an injury against Nuremburg.
The Bundesliga champions revealed the extent of the injury in an announcment on Sunday, which will rule him out of action until October.
The 22-year-old Brazil-born midfielder took a knock on the right ankle in the second half of Bayern’s 2-0 victory over Nuremberg on Saturday.
The midfielder was stretchered off and replaced by Thomas Muller, with fears that the injury could rule him out for some time.
Their fears were confirmed after an extensive examination on Sunday by club doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt.
The club also revealed that Thiago will undergo surgery on Monday in order to resolved the injury problem.
The Spanish U21 star joined Pep Guardiola's side in the summer from Barcelona.
