Paulinho scores first Tottenham goal in Europa League rout
Paulinho scored his first goal for Tottenham as they thrashed Dinamo Tbilisi 5-0 in the Europa League on Thursday.
Andros Townsend opened the scoring with a fine solo goal at the Boris Paichadzis Erovnuli Stadion, after Paulinho's challenge released him, turning provider to set up the Brazil international.
Townsend made progress down the right before hanging his cross in the air, where Paulinho had timed his run well to head beyond Giorgi Loria from eight yards out.
The hostile atmosphere turned flat and the only audible sound inside the stadium came from the jubilant 100 fans in the away end.
After a slow start to the second half, Townsend grabbed another assist as he got to the byeline and laid the perfect pass to Roberto Soldado, who coolly slotted home the third.
Nacer Chadli set up two goals in as many minutes as he laid the ball off for Danny Rose to curl a stunning left-footed strike into the top corner from 25 yards.
He was involved again in the 67th minute when he crossed into the six-yard box for Soldado to tap home his second of the night.
Andre Villas-Boas may now take the opportunity to utilise the depth of his squad when they host the return leg at White Hart Lane on Thursday August 29.
