Neymar scores first Barcelona goal in Spanish Super Cup
Neymar scored his first competitive goal for Barcelona as they drew 1-1 with Atlético Madrid in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old failed to find the net during his pre-season outings, including against former club Santos, and made an unassuming competitive debut at the weekend.
Neymar came on as a 63rd minute substitute in Barca's 7-0 win against Levante at Camp Nou, but just three days later he again came off the bench and made a quick impact.
Atlético striker David Villa had already scored with a first-time volley against his former club, but Neymar replaced Lionel Messi in the 59th minute and netted an equaliser just seven minutes later.
Dani Alves found his compatriot with a looping cross that set up the young Brazil international to head home and salvage a draw.
The away goal was good news for Barca, after the bad news that Messi has picked up a reported thigh/hamstring injury.
