Chelsea 2-0 Hull City Tigers: Oscar scores in comfortable victory
Chelsea star Oscar scored the opening goal to help the Blues claim a comfortable 2-0 victory over Hull City Tigers at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Frank Lampard saw a penalty saved by debutant Allan McGregor on six minutes, but the Brazilian playmaker broke the deadlock seven minutes later after a fine pass from Kevin De Bruyne.
Oscar was played in behind the Hull defence and kept his head to slide the ball low under the onrushing goalkeeper.
Lampard went close with a drive inside the box in the immediate aftermath of the goal, but he eventually also got on the scoresheet midway through the first half.
The club’s all-time top scorer made up for his spot-kick miss by firing a stunning 30-yard free kick into the top corner.
Hull rallied after the break but never seriously threatened Petr Cech in the Chelsea goal.
Ramires was one of the stand out performers for the hosts with a solid display in the heart of midfield, while defender David Luiz was absent from the squad due to an injury.
