Brasileirão wrap: Cruzeiro knock Botafogo off top spot
Cruzeiro have knocked Botafogo off the top of the table after a 2-1 win at Criciuma.
The hosts were on track to secure a draw when Bruno Lopes struck midway through the second half after Vinícius Araújo opened the scoring for Cruzeiro.
However, Ricardo Goulart finished with a clever back-heel from an Alejandro Martinuccio cross in the 83rd minute to claim three points.
Meanwhile, Botafogo were held to a 2-2 draw by Atlético Mineiro at the Independência, after the hosts came from behind twice.
Ronaldinho cancelled out Elias' header with an unstoppable free-kick in the 29th minute, which hit the crossbar on its way in.
Nicolas Lodeiro restored Botafogo’s lead when he curled the ball beyond Jefferson just short of the hour mark, but the hosts hit back in the fourth minute of injury time through Luan to steal a point.
Flamengo surrendered a late lead to draw 1-1 with 10-man Portuguesa, thanks to goalkeeper Lauro's stoppage time header just three minutes after Ferdinando was sent off.
Santos and Corinthians were both reduced to 10 men in their 1-1 draw, as Willian cancelled out Paulo Andre's early opener for the Timão, before both goalscorers were sent off in the second half.
Paulo Baier scored a late goal as Atlético Paranaense beat Bahia 1-0, Coritiba remained in third place with a 1-0 victory at Grêmio and Walter scored a goal in each half as Goiás overcame Náutico 2-1.
Elsewhere, fourth-placed Vitória were held to a 1-1 draw by Fluminense, as were Vasco da Gama at home to Ponte Preta.
