Sevilla have joined the race to sign Sao Paulo defender Diego Lugano with Liverpool likely to make a second bid to take him to Anfield in January.
The Spanish outfit offered around €7.5 million (£5 million) before the end of the transfer window, but the Uruguayan decided to stay in Brazil until December because he wants to appear in the World Club Championship.
Liverpool’s Rafa Benitez has also had an offer rejected by Copa Libertadores winners Sao Paulo, but is preparing to make a renewed effort to sign the player in January.
