Espanyol have made an offer for Fluminense striker Samuel according to reports in the Brazilian press.

The Spanish side is believed to have submitted a bid worth in the region of €3.5 million for the 22-year-old forward.

Fluminense currently own half of the player’s transfer rights, however they are reluctant to let another attacker go this summer.

The Tricolor have already seen the departures of Wellington Nem and Thiago Neves, and do not want to weaken their side even further.

Fluminense are defending their title this season after securing a second Brasileirão in three years in 2012.

But departures of several players are threatening to derail their title defence bid as they currently lie in tenth place in the league.
