Newell’s striker Ignacio Scocco is very close to joining Internacional, according to reports in Brazilian press.
Zero Hora reports that Internacional are offering US$ 6.5 million for the Argentine striker, the deal could be announced later on this Thursday.
The Argentine club originally planned to sell him to a European club but they have accepted to have talks with Internacional.
River Plate were also interested in the striker, which encouraged Internacional to act quicker to try to sign him. Scocco will earn a salary estimated in 120,000 Euros per month, considerably higher than his wages at Newell’s.
If the deal is confirmed, he is likely to replace Leandro Damião, who is wanted by Napoli and Zenit St. Petersburg, and could leave for a fee estimated in 22 million Euros.
