Santos crushed Portuguesa in a 4-1 rout courtesy of a Neilton brace either side of the break as well as goals from Willian José and Giva.

Bruno Moraes gave Portguesa a consolation strike in the 88th minute but Santos strolled to a victory which lifts them into fifth.

Internacional emerged victorious after a hard-fought win against Fluminense in a five-goal thriller.

Andres D’Alessandro and Diego Forlan put the away side two goals up in the first half an hour before Carlinhos pulled one back for Fluminense.

But Forlan restored the two goal lead and a Fred strike in the second half wasn’t enough to rescue the game for the Tricolor.

Internacional now occupy second place while Fluminense stay in seventh after a relatively poor start to the season.
