Dorival Júnior has been appointed as the new manager of Vasco, replacing Paulo Autuori, who resigned this week.

The negotiations advanced quickly, he will debut as Vasco manager in Brasília on Sunday against his former club Flamengo.

This is his second spell at the club as he was Vasco’s manager in 2009, when the club won Brazil’s Second Division.

Carlos Alberto, Robinho and Enrico are the only remaining players from that team, although the latter is expected to leave the club.

Dorival Júnior has also managed top division clubs Internacional and Atlético Mineiro, but his most successful spell was at Santos, when he won the Brazilian Cup in 2010. The team featured stars such as Robinho and Neymar.
