Spurs boss Villas-Boas plays down Bernard move
By Chris Donald
Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has admitted that despite closely monitoring Brazil midfielder Bernard, a move probably won’t come about.
The English club have been tracking the progress of the Atlético Mineiro midfielder for a while but Villas-Boas thinks it’s the end of any move to sign the Seleção international.
He told Desporto: "Bernard's a player that we monitor like many others, but I think Tottenham will do nothing regarding them."
The 20-year-old has been heavily linked to a move to London, however, it now seems unlikely with Porto now reportedly ready to move in.
This news comes after Bernard’s Seleção teammate Paulinho admitted that Tottenham had made an offer to sign him.
However, Paulinho won’t be forced into a decision and says his future will be decided after the Confederations Cup.
Tottenham have been linked with a host of Brazilian internationals this summer and this set back in the potential signing of Bernard follows that of Leandro Damião who’s move to England also looks unlikely.
