Tottenham join race to sign Atlético Mineiro’s Bernard - reports
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined the race to sign Atlético Mineiro’s highly rated attacking midfielder Bernard.
The 20-year-old has attracted the attention of a number of European clubs, with Champions League runners-up Borussia Dortmund believed to be leading the way for his signature.
Dortmund are looking to replace Bayern Munich-bound Mario Gotze and have already had a bid rejected by the Belo Horizonte club, according to reports.
Meanwhile, Spurs’ main priority this summer is to keep hold of star player Gareth Bale, but also need to show ambition in the transfer market.
Andre Villas-Boas reportedly wants to add to his attacking midfield options, while trying to finally land Internacional striker Leandro Damião.
Atlético turned down a bid of £10 million for Bernard from Spartak Moscow in December and are thought to want at least £15m for his services.
The winger is currently on duty with Brazil at the Confederations Cup where a strong performance will only enhance his reputation.
