São Paulo continued their fine start to the season with a crushing 5-1 victory over Vasco da Gama thanks to a Luís Fabiano brace and sends them two points clear at the top of the table.

Corinthians were held to a second successive draw after a late Guilherme equaliser rescued a point in a 1-1 tie against Goias who took the lead through Ernando.

Santos began life without Neymar in a 2-1 defeat to Botafogo, with two early goals from Fellype Gabriel and Rafael Marques clinching the win.

Cruzeiro stuttered to a 2-2 draw with Atlético Paranaense after going two goals down early in the first half courtesy of Botelho and Manoel, but strikes from Dedé and Luan saved a point.

William and Cicinho gave Ponte Preta a comfortable 2-0 victory over Flamengo and Maxi Biancucchi continued his fine form as his brace helped Vitoria to a 3-0 win over Nautico.

In the remaining game, Bahia and Coritiba battled it out to a goalless draw.
