Former Barcelona midfielder Edmílson has revealed that he will be working at the club to help new signing Neymar settle in.

The 21-year-old star is set to pen a five-year deal at Camp Nou in the coming days, after a deal was finally agreed with Santos.

Edmílson, who played for Barca between 2004 and 2008 before moving to Villarreal, has pointed out to Esports COPE his role will be as an advisor to his fellow Brazilian.

The 36-year-old said: “I’ll be in Barcelona from September to help Neymar to settle in at first. I’m very friendly with his father and his representative.

“I’ve spoken with [Barca President] Sandro Rosell and explained to Neymar all about the club, Catalonia, and the way in which his new teammates play. I have helped the player’s family and also Barcelona."

The former Brazil international, who earned 42 caps, also revealed that Neymar is keen to get his new career in Spain underway.

Edmílson added: “Neymar made it clear he wanted to go to Barcelona and he is delighted.

“He is very excited to be able to play with the best players in the world. I have no doubt he will be a success."
