Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has praised Barcelona for their capture of Santos star Neymar, saying his presence will enrich La Liga.

The Spanish champions confirmed on Sunday that they have agreed terms with the Brazilian club over the transfer of the 21-year-old, who will sign a five-year deal at Camp Nou.

Del Bosque is among those who are pleased that Neymar has opted to ply his trade in La Liga from next season.

He told Radio Marca: “I really like Neymar. He is an artist and Spanish football needs players like him.

“We should not be closing our borders for the very best. We already have players such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo here, who are the best in the world.”

Real Madrid also had an offer for Neymar accepted by Santos, but the Brazil international eventually decided to snub a move to the Bernabeu in favour of Catalunya.

The forward will take part in the Confederations Cup with hosts Brazil this summer and could come up against some of his new Spanish team-mates during the tournament, including Jordi Alba, Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Cesc Fabregas, Andres Iniesta, Pedro, Xavi and David Villa.
