Corinthians star Alexandre Pato could return to Milan this summer due to an injury to striker Giampaolo Pazzini, according to reports.

The Brazil international only moved back to his homeland five months ago, after a €15 million deal was agreed, but is already being linked with a return to the San Siro.

The Rossoneri are short of strikers after Pazzini underwent knee surgery this week and could be out of action for up o six months.

The Corriere dello Sport claims the club will try to re-sign Pato rather than bring in another new player, with Milan president Silvio Berlusconi adamant the forward’s move to Corinthians was temporary.

The 23-year-old, who is still dating Barbara Berlusconi, requested a move to Brazil so he could regain his fitness ahead of the World Cup, having suffered a string of injuries in Italy.

Pato, who has scored five goals in 15 appearances so far, made his first Brasileirão appearance for the Timão in a 1-1 draw with Botafogo at the Pacaembu on Saturday.

Other options for Milan include former strikers Alessandro Matri and Marco Borriello, now at Juventus and Genoa respectively.
