São Paulo’s experienced goalkeeper Rogério Ceni has refused to confirm rumors that he could retire at the end of the season, following São Paulo’s 1-4 defeat to Atlético Mineiro for the round of 16 of Copa Libertadores.

The 40-year old goalkeeper had claimed before that 2013 could be his last participation in Copa Libertadores.

When asked by reporters about the claim he could retire in December, he said: “I can’t make any prevision about the future. It’s bad enough I have to react after the defeat.”

“I will not talk about the future, there is no condition to talk about this.”

Rogério Ceni joined São Paulo in 1992 and has played more than 1,000 games for the club, scoring 111 goals, most of them from free kicks.

He was named the best Brazilian goalkeeper six times and was in the Brazilian national team squad in the 2002 and 2006 World Cups.
