Former Botafogo star Elkeson happy with life in China
Elkeson has admitted that he is in China, where he plays for Guangzhou Evergrande since he left Botafogo last year.
He is currently the top scorer in China with 13 goals in only 7 games, as his team top the league with 19 points.
The forward talked to Brazilian press about life in China, he said: "I am very happy, I adapted very quickly. Thank God things are working out."
"I think the language was the biggest problem, but we have a translator and the Brazilian teammates help a lot too. I'm learning some things in Mandarin Chinese. Muriqui and Conca, who is almost a Brazilian, help me a lot."
He explained his decision to play in China, he said: "I wanted a new challenge, I have always dreamed of a move abroad. Many people said I would be hidden in China."
"But I am growing a lot in China, the league has many good players, including Brazilian strikers, the level is very good. Football has been developing a lot in the country in recent years."
Elkeson added: "I became a striker, I am playing in the same position I was at Botafogo, It's been very good, I'm scoring goals and developing well in that position."
"The team's quality helps me score too. It's been good for my career and I can only thank [Botafogo manager] for giving me the opportunity to play closer to the goal."
He admitted that he wants to play in Europe although he misses Brazil, he said: "I miss Brazil but I want to play my career abroad. I see many players leaving Brazil and returning quickly."
"I want to have a career abroad and only return in the future. I want to have two good seasons in China and then of course try to play in European football."
