Flamengo’s under 20 team have won the second turn of the Rio de Janeiro Youth Championship following a 2-0 win against Nova Iguaçu.

The match was played at Bangu-owned Moça Bonita stadium,  both Flamengo goals were scored in the second half.

Alcindo’s son Igor Sartori opened the scoring 7 minutes before the final whistle, and Fernandinho extended the lead two minutes later.

Flamengo’s defensive midfielder João Victor expressed his happiness, he said: “This is the result of our work, which started a long ago. We haven’t done well in Taça São Paulo in the last two years but we have decided that the Rio de Janeiro legaue will be ours. We now have to celebrate this unbeaten title.”

Flamengo had the most prolific attack with 26 goals and the best defense, which conceded only 5 goals.  Douglas Baggio is one of the top scorers with 10 goals in the competition.
