São Paulo have signed young Penapolense striker Silvinho in a one-year deal, the player’s rights are controlled by the group of investors known as DIS.

Silvinho has also been registered for the knockout stage of Copa Libertadores, replacing Casemiro, who was loaned to Real Madrid.

He started his career at Corinthians, but shone at Penapolense during the São Paulo State Championship this year and was widely regarded as one of the best players playing for the smaller teams.

The 22-year old striker scored 6 goals in the competition and had previously played for several small state of São Paulo teams as well as for Austrian side LASK Linz.

Besides Silvinho, São Paulo have also made a 4 million Euros offer for right-back Cicinho and centreback Cléber, but Ponte Preta turned down the offer.

São Paulo will face Atlético Mineiro on Thursday for the first leg of Copa Libertadores’ round of 16.
