Newly capped Brazil international Leandro has spoken of his desire to stay at Palmeiras, following a good start to his loan spell with the São Paulo based side.

Leandro, 19, joined Palmeiras on loan from Grêmio in January, and has scored six goals in his opening nine appearances for the Verdão.

His fine start to the 2013 season was then made better by a goal on international debut against Bolivia last weekend.

With his luck starting to change after some difficult times at Grêmio, Leandro is hoping to stay at Palmeiras for some time yet.

“I am very happy at Palmeiras and I’m going through a wonderful phase. I have been able to help Palmeiras on the pitch,” he told TV Bandeirantes.

“If I were to choose between staying and going to Grêmio, I would choose to stay here.”

As part of the agreement between the two sides, Palmeiras have an option to purchase Leandro for a fee of €5 million until the end of the loan contract.

Verdão president Paulo Nobre has already expressed interest in making the young forward a permanent fixture at the Palestra Italia.
