Villa Nova’s Tchô has bemoaned defensive calamities as the main cause of their heavy 4-2 defeat to Cruzeiro in the Campeonato Mineiro.
Ricardo Goulart seized victory with two goals after coming off the bench in a game riddled with defensive mistakes.
“We played well, but our failures were the goals. Against a big team we cannot afford such mistakes,” Tchô said.
Although Villa Nova lost, Tchô remains confident they wil finish strongly in the Campeonato Mineiro as it enters the closing stages.
“The next step is to take on América TO and achieve qualification for the semi finals. We fought a lot, but we failed individually.
“We suffered the consequences, but now we must keep calm,” Tchô added. “We are having a good championship.”
“We need to forget about this game, and move on to thinking about América TO, and secure our place in the semi-finals.”
