Corinthians’ midfielder Paulinho is not afraid of losing his place in the Brazilian national team, despite having missed the last two Brazil games due to an injury.

Paulinho had a thigh injury and had to be removed from the squad for the games against Italy and Russia.

Grêmio’s Fernando and Lazio’s Hernanes replaced him and Chelsea’s midfielder Ramires, who also got injured shortly before the games.

The new duo shone in both games, although Brazil struggled to get a draw in those matches.

The Corinthians star is not worried about the competition for a place in the team, he told press: “the national team had two even games against great teams, but the fact other players played in my role doesn’t worry me”.

He added: “our team have very good defensive midfielders, I’ll keep doing my work at Corinthians and fight to return to the squad as soon as possible”.

Paulinho talked about his injury, he said: “I don’t know what caused my injury, this kind of thing can happen at any time, it happened exactly when I was called up for the national team. I wasn’t in condition to join the squad, and I’m now being treated”.

The midfielder completed: “The injury comes when a player is having a very good sequence of games. I now have to work hard to be fully recovered, I don’t have anything to regret, I have to overcome that and bounce back”.
