Valencia attacker Jonas believes Sunday’s La Liga clash with Atlético Madrid will be key in the race for fourth spot.

Los Che currently sit fifth in the table with 10 games remaining, just two points behind Real Sociedad in the last Champions League spot.

Malaga, Betis, Getafe and Rayo Vallecano remain within four points of Valencia but Jonas believes another three points will help his side pull away from the chasing pack.

He said: “There is one more spot and it is important [we take it]. We cannot afford to lose games anymore because there is very little to go until the end of the season.

“It"s a special match against a tough opponent with great potential. If we win we will add more points to achieve the goal and scoring away is important.

“They have a lot of quality from last season and are very strong. Know we have to score and win if possible. No team is unbeatable."

The Brazilian also hailed the contribution of teammate Roberto Soldado, who has been linked with a move away from the Mestalla during the past couple of transfer windows.

Jonas added: “He"s a great player and very important to us. With him on the field we have more chances to win a game.

“He"s very important to have the player in the final phase of the season."
