Lazio star Hernanes opts for Europa League glory
Lazio star Hernanes says he would sacrifice qualification for the Champions League if it meant that his side collected silverware this term.
The Bianconcelesti have had a roller coaster campaign to date and although they were serious contenders for third place, they are now seven points adrift.
Lazio, who reached the Coppa Italia Final, will face Fenerbahce in the last eight of the Europa League, which is the competition Hernanes would rather succeed in this season.
He told La Lazio Siamo Noi: "If I had to choose between third place in Serie A and winning the Europa League then I’d opt for lifting a trophy.
"We have a complicated period ahead of us. It will be difficult and tough. We have to get back to winning ways in the championship.
"Now we have to just take each game as it comes."
The capital club face Catania this weekend before Serie A matches against rivals Roma and then Serie A leaders Juventus.
