Flamengo’s Director of Football Paulo Pelaipe ruled out signing former Inter Milan striker Adriano and added that the Imperador needs treatment.

Adriano has also recently offered himself to Palmeiras, but the Paulista club decided not to sign him.

Paulo Pelaipe told Rádio Globo the following about the striker: “Adriano needs a psychiatrist, he needs treatment. This Adriano of recent years can’t play for Flamengo. He is ruining everything”.

The director also added: “Unfortunately, when it comes to Brazilian football, Flamengo don’t regard Adriano as a player anymore. He needs treatment”.

Adriano had a very successful career, shining at Flamengo, Parma and Inter Milan, but he went downhill since his father died.

He briefly regained his old form in 2009, when he helped Flamengo win the Brazilian title and nearly got called up for Brazil’s 2010 World Cup squad.

The striker recently had spells at Roma, Corinthians and Flamengo, but failed to make any positive impact.
